About kelly
FUN FACT: I've been a bridesmaid 12 times and a best man twice.
Hi! I'm Kelly Vrooman, a comedic actor/writer who The New York Times called "a master class in rapid-fire comedy." Most recently, I appeared on ABC's Black-ish and Grey's Anatomy, and perform weekly at UCB Los Angeles with my improv comedy team, Ghost. I'm often described as having a "sassy mom energy" and to that I say, you're welcome, now eat your peas.
I wrote and starred in the short film, Rekindled, that screened at 12 Oscar-Qualifying festivals and won 16 awards, including Best Film, Best Writer, and Best Actress.
I was a staffed writer on NBCKids' The Chica Show and am currently a writer/director for the animated series, The Tuttle Twins. My feature script, Emergency Contact, was a semi-finalist (top 1%) in the 2021 Blue Cat screenplay competition and my original sketch comedy videos have garnered 50 million views and counting.
My improv duo, Laurelly (with Lauren Pritchard), holds the record for most wins at the legendary improv Cagematch at iOWest in Hollywood with 69 straight weeks.
I'm a Kennedy Center Irene Ryan acting scholarship nominee, Thomas Angel Foundation Women in Comedy finalist, and a "Best TV Host" Kids Screen Award winner for my work hosting The Sunny Side Up Show on Sprout/Universal Kids.
